This series is set in the 1980's, as the cold war was coming to an end. The producers worked hard to be as accurate in its portrayal of spycraft as possible (the Soviets actually had a program to have spies pose as average American families, which I'm sure was a very expensive endeavor, especially amidst food shortages at home). Sometimes the series spends too much time on establishing its setting (like the elaborate costumes and era-appropriate props) and not enough on the larger political thriller at play. Nevertheless, our Season-Quality Correlation shows that sticking with the series is worth it.
